Teaching, Plays, and Halfway There!

This month was full of exciting things! It was my first full month where I taught full time in my Kindergarten class. It was hard at first because I had to plan every lesson, but with some time I got a lot better at planning lessons and could do it much quicker. It was so much fun to teach them! It was difficult to know that I was the only one in charge. But I also had to do something awful. I had to teach the science unit on worms. By using real worms. And holding them. And passing them out to the children all the while pretending I loved them so the kids wouldn't be afraid. Also they weren't just worms. They were night crawlers. Worst unit I ever taught! But it did give me and my mentor teacher a lot of laughs. We both screamed a few times on accident during this unit haha.

During October I hit my "half way through pregnancy" mark! That was a big milestone for me and I was so excited! And my sweet husband remembered it and got me a few presents.

I got some belly butter

A beautiful wooden carved pregnant women and husband

And a body pillow to help me sleep!

Best husband ever! Also, on October 16 Rusty could feel lots of the baby's kicks! It was so exciting to be able to share that with him. We loved spending evenings playing with our little guy!

We also went to a new place called the Honey Bear cafe to take care of an intense pregnancy craving for cheesecake. :) There was live music playing and a little bookstore attached that we spent some time exploring. It was such a cute little place!

Rusty and I wanted to get out and see some of the beautiful fall colors and enjoy the sunshine so one Saturday we went down to Green Lake and rode our bikes around the lake. It has a paved trail that wraps around the lake with a ton of grassy areas around the trail. It is one of our favorite places in Seattle!

To get ready for Halloween, we of course had to go to the pumpkin patch! We went out to a beautiful pumpkin field with our friends where we got to walk around and pick out our perfect pumpkins. Rusty got a really weird green one, but he was so excited about it and its shape haha.

We saw a deer while looking for our pumpkins!

Later, we carved pumpkins with Katie and Cody. It was so much fun to hang out, drink cider, eat pumpkin bars, and carve our pumpkins. I love fall! It took a while, but we all finished our masterpieces. Here you can see Rusty's wonderful green pumpkin. :)

There are a lot of really wonderful things about living in Seattle, and one of them is the fact that they have Broadway plays that are just phenomenal. Rusty and I went on a special date to see Beauty and the Beast. We stopped at a great little dessert shop and got cheesecake and carrot cake but didn't have time to eat it before the show. Beauty and the Beast was incredible! And afterwards we went to our favorite park overlooking the city and ate our desserts. It was such a wonderful night!

Then finally it was Halloween! I loved spending the day in Kindergarten and seeing all of those kiddos dress up. There were five Elsa's in my class out of 12 girls haha. We played some games, sang songs, and did crafts. The whole staff got into it and dressed up and we had a big staff breakfast. The principal dressed up as Professor Dumbledore and the front office dressed up as other Harry Potter characters. The principal would come on the announcements following the HP theme song and announce things like that Ron's pet rat ran away and was in the halls. It was so fun! Later that night some of our friends came over and we made caramel apples and watched a movie while we ate all of the trick or treating candy :) Great Halloween.
