We were able to go out to Farm Country, which we haven't visited in a while. It is so fun to go to these places as Amelia gets older because you get to see her experience things for the first time every time because she views them in a new way. It wasn't very crowded luckily, so we were able to get everything in that we wanted to! We started by looking at the bunnies and then we rode the horses and the tractor.
Henry got invited to a birthday party by a girl in his class at school, and Della went with me to drop him off at Classic Skate. She was so, so sad that she couldn’t stay that she was crying on the way out but trying to keep it together. Rusty and I decided that we should just take the whole family back there the next night, and it was a crazy night but it was very fun! The bounce house is massive, and there’s a big jump that even made me nervous haha. Skating was just a straight up disaster. Rusty is the only one that can skate, and so the rest of us were flailing around like cats trying to stay out of water. It was awful. But we went back to some of the other activities and had a great time!
Henry got invited to another birthday party, by his little best friend named Jeffery. His dad came and picked him up and they went to Thanksgiving Point. I am a worrier and I had never really met his parents, so we went to Thanksgiving Point too so I could be there to watch haha.
Jessica and I went on a little date snowboarding at Brighton! We headed up there and the roads got a
little crazy so we turned around and parked and took the bus up. It ended up being great, even though
we lost out on some time. There were some big patches of powder and it was so fun to hit them! I am not
used to having good snow haha, so it was a blast! We laughed so hard on the bus that I’m pretty sure
everyone thought we were high. But what else is new.
Rusty surprised me with a weekend getaway for my birthday! Della’s surgery was the day after my birthday, on a Friday, so it really screwed up his plans for a birthday weekend. He ended up doing it a couple of weeks early, but that made it even more of a surprise! Jessica watched the kids and we went to the Alaskan Inn, one of my favorite places ever. We went and got a steak dinner at Jaker’s, dropped stuff off at the inn, and then went out to see the Sound of Music. IT WAS AMAZING AND I LOVED IT. Then we went back and ate all of the meats and cheeses that he brought for the charcuterie board and relaxed. The next morning we relaxed, had our breakfast, watched a funny Steve Martin show and then drove through Hunstville and Eden to see if we wanted to live over there someday. It was a beautiful weekend away with Rusty, and I didn’t have a panic attack which is a huge miracle! I have been having them a lot more recently and I was so happy to have a break.
Story time is going strong! I love this program, they do the coolest things. Merida and her mom came from Brave, and afterwards they had someone play the bagpipes. Afterwards the kids got to ask him questions, and Henry was so proud to ask “How long have you been playing?” They also made some cool drums another time when Grandma Phyllis was visiting.
We spent Pi Day at the Marx's house, where we had pie and pizza. Someone brought this giant pizza that was pretty fun; Henry was stoked about it and asked for a picture with it.
Rusty got to get away for a little bit and spent a night down in St. George with Shane mountain biking. They left early one morning and spent the night, and then went for a morning ride before heading back home. It was really good for him to be able to get out and do something fun! He had a great time riding.

St. Patrick’s Day was the day that Rusty was getting back from St. George. The kids and I made some fun rice krispies, I made some treats for my young women, and we read some fun St. Patrick’s day stories. That night we had our St. Patrick’s Day dinner and our special cake! (Note to self, avocado oil does not taste good in that cake). Holidays are so fun with these little leprechauns.

With the weather getting better we started spending more time out at the parks! We rode our bikes to the
park over by Mountain View, and Henry’s legs got tired from going so far and Bailey was running and
pooping at the same time haha. We also rode down to the duck pond! It’s fun that the kids are getting big
enough to do these kinds of things.
The Provo library did a Shakespeare play for kids, and Henry and Della had such a good time. Every time there was any fighting or action Henry perked up, and when there was romance Della would get this big grin on her face. Afterwards Henry went and talked with the cast.

Then it was my birthday! We started the day in the best way that I know how: the blueberry mascarpone stuffed french toast at True Religion. SERIOUSLY THIS IS GOLD. As I’m writing this I am just craving them so badly. In the afternoon I was going to go mountain biking with Jessica, but Rusty wasn’t answering his phone and he had my mountain bike in his car and I didn’t know where it was parked. So we ended up just going on a hike! It was really fun and nice to get out. She even packed a little cupcake haha. After that we came back to my house and Aaron and my parents met us there and we got some pizza and salads and dessert from Medici’s.

Della’s surgery finally happened! Oh man, the few weeks leading up to the surgery were just awful. I was stressed and worried about the surgery, and so was Della, so I was trying to make sure she was comfortable and felt good about it. Then because her ears couldn’t drain correctly she had constant ear infections for two weeks. I took her in and they gave her an antibiotic, but it didn’t do anything so after a few days they gave her another one. Then we went back in because she had an allergic reaction to that medication. After that I was scared to try anything else, so we just suffered through until it was time for the surgery.
My parents came up that morning to stay with Amelia and Henry. Della got really nervous when we were
driving to the hospital and she kept crying; it really broke my heart. After we got her checked in and
changed they brought her some Frozen 2 coloring pages and she felt much better. They also gave her
some medicine to help calm her down and also help her forget the surgery. This medicine also made her
pretty punchy, and she kept saying the funniest things. She looked at the TV and said, “Why do I see two
of that guy?” and her eyes were just huge staring at the screen haha. Then she looked at my necklace and
said, “Wow, that is a beautiful necklace. You should hide it” and she tucked it behind my shirt haha. She
always trailed her sentences off in the middle and just stared at us and then started over haha.
The time for the surgery was pretty miserable for me, just worrying about her and how things were going. The doctor came after and told us that things went well and that her adenoids were really, really big haha. Then I could hear Della crying and asking for me and I was just pacing out in the hallway trying not to break down the door and go grab my baby. Eventually they brought her out and she was so upset. She was scared and sad and in pain and it was a rough time. We got her calmed down with some frozen lemonade and snuggles. Within a few hours she was doing so much better, but it really was about two weeks until her energy and pain got back to normal. Also, I wish the doctor had warned me about the bad breath haha. Phyllis did, but I didn’t think it would be so bad because the doctors didn’t say anything at all. But oh my gosh, it was so bad. But we didn’t want to hurt her feelings so we had to hide it, but after that surgery everyone’s breath is so bad. Ah.
We had a surprise visit from Rusty's brother Levi and his family! They were camping down in southern Utah and told us that they were passing by and wanted to stop to visit for a couple of days. It was two days after Della's surgery which was a little difficult, but she did really well (although she did get sick afterwards from all the excitement). We had fun chatting as adults and the kids definitely had a great time with their cousins!
Henry's Highlights:
- We were talking about how so many cars are getting pulled over on our street lately. He says, "Main Street really has become an unsafe place to be!" Who is this kid? Then he said, "Those cops are making money off of those speeders!"
Adeline's Adventures:
- We were cleaning the house and listening to Michael Jackson and she says, "Mom, this music is good! It's shaking my booty!" when "Don't Stop til You Get Enough" came on haha
Amelia's Updates:
- She still loves "Pat a Cake" but really only likes the motion where you roll your arms
- She can point to her nose, eyes, hair, belly button and bum bum!
- Lia has started to kind of say "Amelia" and it is so cute
- She says, "No" all of the time and at first it was cute and now it's hard haha
- She gets plates and bowls out when she sees us eating something she wants. She just keeps getting them out until we put food on one for her haha
