In the good weather we also took the canoe out for the first time this summer! It was crazy to see the differences from the last time that we took it out; he was so much smaller! He didn't really understand what was going on but was content to just hang out. This time he kept repeating "Boat! Go! Water!" and had his hands in the water the whole time. He had a blast, until he dropped Lightning McQueen in the water. :( Rusty and I had a great time too being out on the water, it was so beautiful and there were a few bald eagles flying around. The lake here is gorgeous, and it was so fun to be out doing a summer activity.
The new Cars movie came out! Rusty and I had been excited for quite a while about it coming out and getting to take Henry. He is so absolutely obsessed with Lightning McQueen that we thought he would just love it. It wasn't the most exciting movie, and the characters were pretty much all different so he wasn't a huge fan but he still liked it! Then we went to Red Robin and grabbed some dinner.
We continued getting ready for baby Adeline! We finished up her room and packed up all of our bags. We're so excited for her to come! Henry is still not entirely sure about what it means I don't think, but we keep talking about her coming.
The Strawberry Festival!!! Something on my Washington Bucket List was to go and pick berries, and the Strawberry Festival gave itself as the perfect opportunity! So one Saturday we went out to Arlington and picked strawberries, rode some rides, and did a tractor ride! Henry's favorite part was the tractor ride, and sampling all of the strawberries.
Father's Day! Henry and I made a special picture for him, breakfast in bed and some gloves for him. We sure are lucky to have him as Henry's daddy!
The weather was so nice, so we got to do some fun summer activities! Henry and I went to Lake Tye in Monroe with the playgroup and had a great time! He loved playing with other kids.
We also spent a Saturday as a family out at Cama Beach. It was so fun, we had a great time! Before that we went and got breakfast at this random little hole in the wall place in Marysville. Not the best place, but also not the worst. But the old man that kept telling me to have Henry turn around really made for a great day. ;)
We also tried out this park and Henry was climbing the toys like the big kids. I was so nervous, but he was doing great!
Extra Pictures:
- He is in a phase right now where he LOVES Dr. Seuss books! We have a few of them out with his other books, and he just always goes for them (or Goodnight Gorilla or Little Blue Truck). He especially loves Green Eggs and Ham and Fox in Socks. He can finish the sentences for us and thinks it's awesome!
- Henry has started to play by himself more and to do some imaginative play. For a while he has been driving his cars all over everything, but lately he will also have them talk: "Hi Sally" "Hi Lightning" or "Sorry Doc" if he drops him haha.
- His personality is really coming through. Sometimes he will purposefully say things weirdly just to make us laugh. Also, he is stubborn and will purposefully ignore us when we ask him to do things. That is not my favorite.
- If I say "Henry, I love you so much" he will respond with "Love you much" but it sounds like mush.
- He's all about eating at the bar, no more high chair unless it's for family dinner (so that we all fit). He is a big kid now. He will take his peanut butter and jelly sandwich, or those crackers with peanut butter in the middle and open them up and lick the good stuff out of the middle and leave the ends. He also picks the chocolate chips or good pieces out of granola bars or cookies.
- Counting! Henry loves to count everything, and can count to 10 on his own (with a few struggles with four).
- He has found a new love for giving high fives, and when I fix something for him or get him something he will say, "Yay Mommy! High five!" or my favorite, "Good job Mommy!"
