Anticipation

January was the last month before we were parents. WHAT. It stated to become more and more real that pretty soon our family wouldn't be just us anymore. So Rusty and I decided to take one last little getaway just us. We ended up going to a tiny town called La Connor, which was pretty much just a shot in the dark. I had dinner some research on small town getaways that weren't too far away in case our little man decided to make his debut early. And it turned out to be a really lucky guess! We left Friday after Rusty got off of work and checked into our Bed and Breakfast called the Wild Iris. The reviews I read online said that you got delicious cookies when you checked in, and oh my word were they right. It was like an oatmeal cookie but it was HUGE! Anyways, that night we ate chocolate covered strawberries and drank sparkling cider and watched some movies. The next morning we had breakfast in the dining room which was wonderful and then we walked around the town. There are lots of little shops, but mostly we sat at the docks and drive around and explored the area. We had lunch at a cute little bakery while we were walking down the main (only) street. That night Rusty got me some take out Alfredo that I was craving like crazy while I took a wonderful bubble bath. My belly didn't fit under the water, but it was still nice:) The next morning we woke up and had breakfast and then drive to a park where you could see a lot of island in the Sound. Then we went to Anacortes and saw their downtown before heading home. It was a great, quick escape!

My favorite spot

The main street downtown... This place was so tiny. I loved it!

Also this month we found a house that we wanted to buy! We got really, really serious about our house hunting this month and spent a lot of time looking at homes and areas. One stood out to us and we both really liked it, which hasn't happened much in the past. We put in an offer and they accepted! But after the inspection we found out that there was standing water in the basement, which is normal for the Northwest but still is expensive to fix. We asked if they would lower the price and they said no. This was really frustrating and disheartening because we both felt like this was our house. We had prayed about it and gotten the answer that we should move forward with the offer, so why would it end like this? We removed our offer, and put in an offer at a lower price. Worth a shot!

Before we left back home, I had a wonderful baby shower with some of my friends from home! It was so nice to get to see everyone and it was a lot of fun to hear all of their advice and stories about their own families. It was pretty low key, a come and go type of set up, but it was a lot of fun!

When we got back I finally felt like I had some time to get ready for the baby! I started going through clothes I had gotten and washing them and organizing them by size. Rusty and I also went and got some furniture and started figuring out where we were going to put everything. We even took a childbirth class and toured the hospital :). I'm getting so excited and so terrified! But I can't wait to see this little man. My dad and Rusty humored me and went up into the mountains with me to take some maternity pictures. I can't believe how big my belly is getting! I hope this baby isn't huge!
