At the beginning of the month, Rusty had to head back down to Alabama to do some more due diligence on the Meadowbrook apartment complex. This time the kids and I spent some of that time in Morgan with my parents! We wanted to soak up all of the time we could with them before we left. We played and talked and relaxed and took the snowmobiles out in the pasture for a quick ride.
A highlight of our time in Morgan was going to the movie theater to see the new Grinch movie! The kids loved it, and the movie theater seats were so comfortable I loved it too. They reclined all the way back and it was heavenly.
Utah got some good snow! We were so excited to be able to play in it and really make the most of it because we knew that we were leaving after this month. So we made a snowman and went sledding, and of course after being cold outside we warmed up with hot chocolate and cinnamon sugar toast.
We went sledding with Bryndee and the boys at Rock Canyon Park. Henry thought it was awesome, but Adeline was less sure about it haha. She didn't really like it until the last time down and she had a huge smile on her face the whole time. Maybe next year she will like it a little bit more.
It would not be December without making Gingerbread houses! Even if our gingerbread houses are always just graham crackers and frosting haha. Maybe one day I will be fancy and have it together enough to make real gingerbread. Regardless, we all had a lot of fun! Adeline just ate the frosting and couldn't have been happier. Henry enjoyed being able to really decorate and design his for the first time. I love this tradition!
Henry always gets so excited when he sees the Christmas lights, so we thought it would be worth taking him to see the lights in Spanish Fork. For these ones, you stay in the car and just drive through and they were awesome! Henry thought it was amazing and we ended up with our heads out of the sun roof. It was a lot of fun and felt very Christmasy.
After seeing the lights, we met the Bartons to go ice skating! I am not a fan of ice skating, but Rusty is so we try to go every once in a while. It was the first time for both of my kids (I told you its every once in a while haha) and I was SHOCKED by how much they loved it. Henry and Della did not want to get off of the ice, which was a bummer because I did haha. But by the end I got my rhythm and enjoyed it! What?
Oh they also had Santa there that we could visit! Della was not thrilled this time either haha.
We also had a chance to visit Santa! It was fantastic and we all loved it so much. We took a sleigh ride to his house, and although Della was not thrilled about the horses we had a good time on the ride. When we got to Santa's house we saw him and Mrs. Claus. Henry went right up and asked him for a "dinosaur that walks and roars all by itself" and then even started to play with his beard. I have NEVER seen him act like that before with a stranger. Then all of a sudden it was like he realized what he was doing and he just shut down haha. He decided that he had had enough. Adeline on the other hand, was not having any of it. She was not about to sit on his lap happily for a picture. After seeing Santa we went to Kneaders for some dinner.
Another fun Utah tradition is going to Temple Square to see the lights! This time we made a stop first to see Mike and Dan's new cycling gym that they just opened in Salt Lake City. It was great to see them and what they have accomplished! I love seeing people follow their dreams. Then we went and got dinner at JB's before we headed over to see the beautiful lights.
Jessica, my mom and I all went out for a girls' night to a play! We went to Scrooge, and it was fantastic! Dinner before was delicious too.
We squeezed in one final trip to Colorado to see the family before we left. With the trip coming up we really wanted to spend as much time with them before we couldn't anymore. The trip was fun! We got some good time with everyone and checked out a cool hiking place in Canon City.
Then it was finally Christmas!! We hosted Christmas here this year and it was so much fun. Jessica, Aaron and her friend came and so did my parents. We had so much food, watched some Christmas movies, and then went to sleep so that Santa could come! The kids were so happy to see all of their prizes they got, most of which were for the upcoming travels. I love having Christmas with my babies!
The rest of the month was a crazy blur of packing and getting things ready to go! I was so stressed and there were many times where I couldn't sleep because part of me was wondering why on Earth I was taking my babies all around the world. There were even some panic attacks about leaving and some worries that Rusty might be losing his job right as we left (spoiler: he didn't). It was a very exciting time while I was getting closer to finally doing something that I've wanted to for so long, and also very stressful while I tried to figure out how.
We spent New Year's Eve in California, but we went to sleep really early because we had an early flight to San Jose, Costa Rica!
