April: Fools, Skiis, and Almost New Houses

Well hello April Fools Day! I didn't do much last year and that made my kids (ok mostly Henry) really sad so I decided to take it up a notch this year to make up for it. We had hot dogs (bananas covered in peanut butter with jelly as ketchup, and apple cinnamon "fries", chicken pot pies that are graham cracker crusts with tootsie roll candies as the veggies and pudding as the base, and I also made some rice krispies that looked shockingly like raw meat haha. Oh! And cheese and crackers to look like pumpkin pies.

Rusty got to do a really cool thing this year and he went over to a private ski resort for the day with some Kiln people. He had an absolute blast and it snowed the entire day! Best day ever!

We sneaked in another family ski day! Some of us were feeling more over it than others, but we have stayed strong this season and I am amazed at how quickly my kids are progressing! I love watching them go!

Della started lacrosse up again! I still can't tell if she actually likes it or just wants to like it because I played it. But either way, she is crushing it and getting better and better each year! She still does not like to be aggressive, so that is the biggest hold up for her being a better player. Which, ironically, is what my feedback always was from my coach haha. We are not an aggressive bunch.

We have been looking for land and found an amazing piece in Daniel. Rusty woke me up and told me that he found some land that had everything we were looking for. We went and looked at it the next day and immediately started things rolling. An offer was put in, we started talking to architects and designers, we did all the things. It is such a beautiful piece and it breaks my heart because we didn't end up getting it. It was really close to the shooting range and in the winter months it was only open three times a week so I felt like that was not too bad, but once the summer schedule came out we learned that they are there seven days a week. I just didn't think that I could relax with that sound constantly going. It was a painful loss for sure.

Amelia tried out soccer this year for the first time! She was not a huge fan, but also didn't hate it. It was more just a "meh" situation. But she made some goals, had fun having a coach and a team, and obviously having the snacks every game.

Rusty got to go riding at a friend's track in Provo and he had the best time! He wold really love a track and this one was pretty special.

The Cowleys invited us to go see a movie about Jesus' birth which was good timing for Easter! We met them and my parents in Salt Lake to see the movie and then we came back home and colored eggs with my parents. The movie was kind of cool; I really appreciated what they were trying to do but I felt like it was a little weird. I didn't like the animation style that much and the kid that was the main character whose father was telling a story was really spoiled and mean and I didn't like that either.

For Easter this year we had a delicious dinner and invited my parents over! I really have come to love this holiday so much. It is everything good and hopeful and joyful that we have in this world!

I'm still trying to give the kids lots of opportunities to make friends, particularly Henry, so I joined a new homeschool group and the first activity we could make it to was a chocolate tour of a chocolate factory in Heber. The tour was fun and interesting for the kids, and we ended up chatting with a few families that felt like had the potential to be friends!

Time for the annual Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival! I enjoy doing this every year and love that it marks the beginning of spring and good weather and FLOWERS! The kids are more and more interested in the scavenger hunt as they get older, and we also got some yummy treats at the end.

We did a piano recital at Carissa's house again and this time all three of my kids joined! They were each very nervous but were so brave and did such a good job!

We went back and did the tulip festival again with Chandler and his girls. They had never been there before so it was fun to show them around and my girls love being with his girls; particularly Della. She loves being a "mommy" to those girls!

Della had a lacrosse game at the high school like last year! This was one of her favorite things last year so we were excited to do it again this year. It was a little bit chilly but that didn't stop them from making their posters and doing face paint!

Amelia wanted to do ballet this spring and so she got to do an Alice in Wonderland dance recital! She was one of the Queen's hearts, and it was the cutest thing in the world. She was so nervous, but she was brave and did it anyway! And she rocked it! She did it two nights in a row. Friday night was a little tricky because Della was playing at the halftime of the high school lacrosse team at the same time. But luckily they were in the same parking lot and I was able to see most of Della playing before I went to the dance recital.

Emmaline and Eli came!

And my parents!

RED BOOTS

And night #2 was a success as well! She was braver and less intimidated about going out.

Henry's Highlights:

  • We were talking about getting chickens and bees, and I told Henry that we probably wouldn't be getting any bees. He said, "Ah man! I was even more excited about the bees than the chickens!" I was surprised and said, "Oh really?!" And he said, "No... I just wanted you to be emotionally involved." HAHA
  • We were watching General Conference and while President Oaks was conduction Henry says, "Has anyone ever died on the stand?" And I said, "HENRY!" And he said, "What? They're all so old"
  • On a walk with Sneaky and he starts running toward the road. Henry gets nervous and chases after him and yells "STOP SNEAKY CARS ARE DANGEROUS!!!!"

Adeline's Adventures:

  • She did her first piano recital! Which is amazing because she doesn't take lessons haha. My brave, talented girl!
  • Gymnastics. She's doing so well they've already skipped her up a level!

Amelia's Updates:

  • She was flossing her bum cheeks with her scarf in ballet
  • "Can you volume the temperature warmer?"
  • "I'm gonna tip toe this over!" Saying she was going to tip over Della's chair at Henry's soccer game
