January: Visitors, New Year

It's a new year! 2017 was good to us, but we can't wait to see what 2018 has in store! Our little boy will be turning 3, our angel girl will have her first birthday, we will be going to Peru. and moving upstairs (hopefully!!).

The Hudsons were still here for a little bit of the beginning in January. It was so much fun having them here! Henry and Bennett picked up right where they left off and were running around the backyard holding hands. The big boys went to get matching bromance ties, and Amber and I sat and talked and caught up.

To end the trip we went to my parent's house to play in the snow, ride horses, and hang out. Unluckily for us, there was no snow and then it was Amber and Kenny's turn to get sick. We did to get to ride horses though, and ride behind the truck in the innertube!

Later in the month, Henry had been having a hard time with Della getting so much attention. So I decided to take him out for a special date with Mommy! He was so excited! We went to the swimming pool and then got some ice cream and french fries from Chikfila. He loved going down the slides and crawling around in the water like alligators. It was so fun to get some one on one time with him. It is so awesome to have sweet Adeline in our family now too, but I do miss having more time with my little Henry. When we were at Chikfila there was a little play area. He went in to play while we waited for the food, and then I went to get him and said, "Henry! Food is ready!" After we had eaten, a little kid came out and said "Henry, can you come play?" My heart started to break into a million pieces because he was old enough to have someone ask him to play. Where did my baby go?!?

One of our new year resolutions was to do better at having date nights. For a Christmas present for Rusty, I got a kit of around the world dates. Each month is a different country, with fun ideas of things to do. For January it was China! I made some decorations, Rusty picked up take out, and we did conversation started fortune cookies, read our Chinese horoscopes, played Chinese Checkers and watched Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. It was so fun!

Bailey started to feel very jealous of us for some reason haha. She would not leave us alone!

The weather was unusually nice this month and we spent a lot of time at the park! There is one so close to our house and Henry loves to ride his bike there. We went on this day on his bike and Della had her first time swinging by herself! It was one of those days when I thought to myself that I was so lucky to have these little kids.

It had been a while since we visited the Dinosaur Museum, so we took a trip out there before Henry's dinosaur birthday party. Henry loved playing with the dinosaurs in the sand and digging for dino bones. He even picked out a favorite dinosaur and wanted to take a picture to show Daddy.

On a Saturday we drove out to Midway to see the Ice Castles with Caitlin and Brandon. Because it was so warm, the ice castles were a little smaller than normal. But it was still really fun to walk around and see all of the ice. There were some really fun slides for Henry that he loved going down!

Another day we went back to Thanksgiving Point for story time. It was a cute story about robots, and after they had some building things for the kids to do. Then we went up in the rainforest bridges for the first time and Henry loved it! He even found a plane that he could pretend to drive and he loved every second of it!

Henry's Highlights
  • "I'm sorry about that!" He says this all of the time, even when he didn't do anything wrong. If I drop something, hurt myself, he does something wrong, or random things like if it's raining he will say this. It's so sweet.
  • He's getting better at doing things like cutting with scissors, coloring, and using his imagination. It's crazy! He talks to crocodiles, runs away from monsters, finds volcanoes, throws water at fires, finds dinosaurs, everything! It's so fun.
  • His favorite things right now are playing cars and playing in his kitchen. Both of these could go on forever if you were doing it with him. He says, "Start your engines! On your mark, get ready, set, go!" and says "I need oil! I need gas! I broke my tire, I'll fix it!" Mostly he just like to make the other cars crash and have the "wee woo" come and fix them haha.
  • I taught him that his name is Henry Pollard, and I'm Jennica Pollard and Daddy is Rusty Pollard. I thought it would be good for safety reasons, and he loves to say it. He names everyone in our family, including Bailey Wailey Pollard. Sometimes he calls Daddy Rusty.
  • After prayers he now yells (or gets mad at us if we don't do it) "PLEASE BLESS JESUS!!"
  • Henry says the sweetest things now, especially at bed time like "Have a great day tomorrow, sleep good, I love you"
  • His favorite show right now is Spirit, about a horse.
  • He loves to tell Alexa to bark like a dog
  • He likes to take his vitamins. One night I forgot, and the first thing he said to me the next morning was, "You forgot my vitamin."
  • Henry was being ornery and Rusty told him that it made him sad he was acting like that. Henry said, "Are you going to cry? Cry!" haha.
  • He has a pretty good sweet tooth. I had a chocolate shaped like a rose and I held it up to show him and asked him what it looked like. He said, "It looks like a candy for Henry!" Another time I told him that he could have apple pie after dinner (it was like 9 AM) and he said, "Can I have dinner now?"
  • He is getting old and doesn't love to snuggle. I asked him to snuggle once and he said he didn't want to, so I said I would snuggle with Della. He said, "Everybody don't want to snuggle!!"

Adeline's Adventures
  • When she laughs it is either a high pitch squeal or a low, man like throat laugh haha.
  • She has started to like her bouncer now a little bit more
  • She is teething like crazy!! Lots of drool, lots of chewing on things, lots of waking up at night
  • Adeline has started eating some food! She has had bananas, peas, green beans, rice cereal, and pears
  • She can turn book pages now
  • Adeline moves around a lot. She has a little telephone that lights up that she loves, but she really loves anything.
  • We've been trying to stretch Della out at night between feedings. It is going a little better... she is almost to three hours haha. She is tough at night!
  • She is getting some hair! It is coming in pretty fast, and she has some really long, stragly ones haha
  • She is very responsive. She has been answering to her name for a while, but now she interacts a lot. She loves to ride on Henry's shoulders and run around
