When Emie got here we picked her up and then went to Pikes Market, but it was closed for the day :( But we still saw Rachel the Pig so it was a good time. Then we walked around on the piers and got dinner at Ivar's, visited the Gum Wall (not Em's fav), and went to the park to see the ferris wheel and Elliott Bay.

We got matching shark shirts, picked out some house decorations, overheard a man accusing Terry of sleeping with someone else... ??, and had fun playing with Henry. Sunday morning we went back to Pike's Market before Em flew out and got to see everything. It was so much fun!

Monday Jessica and I took Henry on a hike to Lake 22. I had never done it before but had heard really great things about it, and now I know why! It is beautiful! It looks a lot like Bloomington Lake close to Bear Lake in Utah. Henry did great and just talked and talked the whole way up, and then slept pretty much the whole way down.

We also took Jessica to Lighthouse Park in Mukilteo to show her the seals, but it was so busy that this was one of the few times that we didn't see any at all! Bummer. It was still cool though because we got to go up in the lighthouse, which we've never done, and we put H in the Sound for the first time. It was a little chilly and he wasn't too sure of it haha.

Then, two days later, it was Rusty's family who came to visit! Phyllis, Kirk, Chase and Kandi all came and it was so awesome to get to spend so much time with them. Friday night we went to a Mariner's game. They even won, 4-3! It was H's first game and so we got a little certificate for him, and then he went to sleep with these big ear muffs that cancel sound. I could not stop laughing at him in those because they pushed his little cheeks together haha.
Saturday we went to Pike's Market, had dinner at Ivar's Salmon House on Lake Union, and then went to the Ballard Locks. At the Locks I ran into my old YW leader, Joy Raymond! It was so awesome to see her!
Sunday was spent at church and having dinner, and Monday we met Rusty at the Lighthouse Park and then had a BBQ, roasted Smores, and played a game. We loved having them visit!
We also had the opportunity to go to Seaside, and it happened to be over Rusty's birthday weekend! We had a little birthday celebration with cake, a scavenger hunt, and opening his presents Friday night and Saturday morning we left for Oregon! While Rusty's family was here they mentioned that a family tradition was to hide the birthday presents and do a scavenger hunt. I don't know why I didn't know about that, but I wrote the clues out with his family and hid his exhaust pipe up in the attic. It was really fun! He also got some Louis Lamoure books, a helicopter flight, some pictures for his office, and a card from Henry with his hand prints. Saturday we drove to Cannon Beach and went into Ecola State Park. We hiked down to Indian Beach, which I had never done before, and the views were absolutely unreal! Every time there was an opening we were just amazed. Then we got down to the beach and I realized that this was where Jessica and I went surfing a few years ago! But we didn't spend any time looking around, so this was still new and exciting. We put Henry in the water for his first time in the ocean and he loved it! After playing there for a while we say down in the sand and let him play, which surprisingly he also really enjoyed. He kept squishing the sand in his fingers. Rusty and I thought that was pretty much it, but we wanted to walk along the beach a little ways. We got over to some rocks and saw some really incredible tide pools! When I was younger, Cannon Beach always had the best tide pools but lately there hasn't been as much. These were like Cannon Beach a few years ago and it was amazing! We saw sea urchins, hermit crabs, and sea stars! I got so excited when we saw the first one because there had been a disease killing the sea stars so last year we didn't see any at Cannon Beach at all. Then we just saw more and more and I was so happy! I was running around the beach yelling to Rusty about all of the things I was seeing haha. It was pretty great. After playing we drove to Seaside and stopped and got some really tasty Chinese take out for dinner. That night we watched the sun set from the balcony and then ate ice cream in bed while we watched Batman Begins. What a great day and a great birthday for Rusty!
The next morning we were lazy and hung around the room for a while and had our first family movie party. We watched The Jungle Book and took naps together in the big bed. Then we went out and walked along the beach and flew a kite (Henry's first ever!) before walking around downtown and getting some salt water taffy. For dinner we went to a seafood restaurant and got some really tasty food with H man sitting in his first high chair, which he went nuts for. He hates feeling left out and so he really loved being at the table with us. That night Rusty stayed home with sleeping Henry so I could go down and walk along the beach by myself for a little. Then we stayed up reading for a while before going to bed. At around 3 my parents, Beckie and Olivia got into town so we let them in the room and then talked for a while before going back to bed. Monday morning we went to the Pig n Pancake for breakfast with everyone and then went and rode the carousel! I have ridden that thing so many times from when I was Henry's age, so I have been so excited to have him ride it too! Last summer I was sick in Seasideand I just kept thinking that it'd be ok because the next summer I'd have a cute baby to ride on the carousel. And it was so great! Then Rusty and I had to leave so that we could get home in time for him to do his helicopter flight (which we had to reschedule because we were late by the way). We always love Seaside, and it was fun to get to take Henry with us!
He was so sleepy haha
The Pig N Pancake with Mom and Dad!
A really sleepy baby on the carousel
After rescheduling three times, Rusty finally got to do his helicopter flight! I gave him a Groupon for his birthday to be able to take a little class and then go up in the helicopter and fly it himself for thirty minutes (the pilot was in there too, don't worry)! He has always wanted to fly, and he had a blast being up there!
Rusty and I also went out on a normal date night. Our awesome friends offered to watch H for the night so that we could go out and I had tickets to the Aquasox, the local triple A baseball team here. So I had it all set up for a surprise for Rusty and then... I couldn't find the dang tickets. So, we looked and looked and then ended up just going to a movie. In the end we decided that maybe it was more fun to do that anyways. We went to the store and bought a bunch of candy and then went and saw Jurassic World. When we got to the movies they wanted to check my bag (which was full of candy) but they let me through. :) Both of us really liked the movie too! What a great night to get out and have some time to ourselves. Oh, and PS, when I got home from the movie I found the tickets. Ha.
We spent some more time on the canoe, but then we decided to go to Jetty Island. It's a little jetty in the Sound in Everett and you have to ride a little boat to get there. It's all free, but you have to make reservations to get tickets. We weren't really sure what to expect, but we went with Sami and Colton and it was so much fun! The boys played in the water and then we all hung out on the beach.
In less exciting news, there was a huge storm that came through the area. Well, it wasn't even that huge but with all of the trees here it doesn't take a whole ton to do a lot of damage. We were without poewr for about ten hours on a Saturday but were lucky to get it back after that. Just as I was taking freezer food to a friend's house the power came back on at home :) But we went out to dinner with some other friends and that made it kind of exciting anyways! It was crazy because before that it had felt so much like summer and then after this storm it just became fall. It smelled like fall and felt like fall; bust out those boots and scarves!
Henry's Highlights
We love this Henry boy! He had his six month appointment and is growing and developing wonderfully. He is now in the 77th percentile for height and 75th for weight. They gave him some shots but he only cried for a little bit and then calmed right down. I can't believe that we have a six month old! Half a year; wow. It's crazy how quickly things change and progress. Henry can now sit up like a champ and prefers to do that or have help standing. He had a lot of firsts this month too: first cart ride, first highchair, first kite, first beach, first time in the swing, and first time eating solids! Bananas, sweet potatoes, and butternut squash are some of his favorites, but he likes peas and carrots too. Green beans are definitely not his favorite, and he will spit them out. :) He smiles all the time, but really holds in those laughs until he just can't anymore and then a squeal comes out. It's pretty rare to get really good giggles out of this little man, but it's also pretty rare to see him without a smile. He still loves anything the color red, crinkly things, and putting anything in his mouth. We are still waiting for those dang teeth to come in; they hurt him pretty bad.
First high chair!
He really wanted my food
Like really bad
Having fun doing laundry with Mommy!
