Blessings

May was another busy month! The first weekend was Henry's blessing and we were lucky enough to have my parents and Jessica come stay for the weekend. We also had some of our wonderful friends come as well! It was a beautiful spring morning on May 3, and although there was a lot of running around to get everyone to church on time we made it there :) Our friends Ryan and Ashley, Colton and Sam, Katie and Cody, my cousin Spencer, my parents, and Jessica all were there to support us. It was a wonderful blessing. My favorite part was that he was blessed to have strong hands, a strong mind, and a soft heart. If I could have picked something for him it would have been that. That is exactly what Rusty is. It is perfect.

Snuggles with Grandma

We had heard a lot about the Centennial Trail, which is a trail that goes for about thirty miles! It's over by where we live now so we took the stroller and decided to give it a shot. At first we went through part of the city and it was right next to the sewer plant... needless to say it was really stinky and not that enjoyable. Later though it opened up to beautiful trees and flowers. We talked to a park ranger and she said that there are better places to get on the trail so you skip that one section. So there will be a lot of exploring there for sure!

One of my favorite things about our new house is that it is so close to the lake! I have never lived close to one, but we can walk down to a little beach area with piers and docks.  It's so much fun! Because the weather has been unreal we have been going down there quite a bit. I love it!

We also went hiking with Colton and Sami out on Spencer Island. It was a really hot day and the real was out in the middle of nowhere. You could see forever! It wasn't really like any other hikes here because usually you are surrounded by trees. It was fun, and afterwards we drive to the new Chick fil a. The lines were HUGE  but I always forget how much I love their food. We had a little picnic with it before going home! Yay for the beginning of summer!

Rusty and I went out on our first "date night"  where we went and saw The Avengers and then ate sushi at our favorite place. It was the first time that we had eaten sushi since I got pregnant! Definitely had been waiting for that for a long time :) Henry did great! He played along during the whole date and let us do our thing. He did like the movie, and cooed really loud when it lit up red haha. We also decided to try taking Henry to dinner with us on a double date, and he did awesome! We met Katie and Cody at Red Robin and Henry slept through dinner. Later we met up with Cody and Katie again and roasted hot dogs and s'mores on the beach at the lighthouse park. It was so, so much fun! It was one of the best days that I have had in a long time. What a perfect way to welcome the summer!

One of the best things of the month was taking Henry to Seattle to show him around!  One if the things that Rusty and I were most excited about with having a baby was how fun it would be to get to experience new things with them. And while I understand that Henry was not really experiencing these things, it was still really fun to take him to some of our favorite places!  We went to Pikes Market and got the giant donut. It was so funny to see it next to Henry, and to hear people's comments!  We started counting because so many people said things like, "Did you see that donut?!" and "Now that's a donut!" A bunch of then asked us scare to get it and one couple even asked to take a picture of it next to Henry haha. More than twenty people commented on it while we were walking through the market. After that we went down and walked along the pier before heading over to see the troll and end the day at Gas Works Park. It was a perfect day!

Rusty accidentally scared Henry and then got a picture of his pouty lip

I'm other news, Rusty and I celebrated another anniversary.  WHAT. WHERE HAVE THE LAST FOUR YEARS GONE. I don't know, but we have some awesome memories and a pretty perfect little son to show for them. Our anniversary was on a Tuesday and it was Rusty's first day he had to be at scouts so it was a little bit tricky, but we went to a park and played catch with those scoopy things (which was actually a blast), picked up some delish steak dinners  from a restaurant close by, and ended the night making cookies and eating cookie dough watching Roman Holiday. A low key day, but a great one!

Mother's Day was this month, and it was my first time having a baby of my own. As luck would have it, Henry was in a pretty cranky mood and would cry or just stare at me every time I looked at him haha. But I was woken up to a HUGE breakfast in bed and got to spend the day with my boys. So it was wonderful. :)

We got to spend Memorial Day in Boise! It wasn't super long, but it was really great to see everyone. Beckie and Angie got to meet Henry for the first time, and sweet little Lyla did too! Henry really loved her. It was fun to see Ang with him and realize that we talk to babies the exact same way. We went for a walk on the Greenbelt and then got dinner at Merit's.

Lyla and Henry. He really did love her even if this picture doesn't look like it :)

Like father like son :) I love those boys!

Henry spit his binkie out of his mouth and it landed on his face haha

Sunday afternoon naps

To finish up the month we went hiking with Colton and Sami again.  This was the first one that was actually a real hike and it felt so good to be out doing that again! The weather was perfect and we went up to the lower falls at Wallace Falls.  It was the first time we put sunscreen on Henry and he just loved being outside. He loves looking at trees!  He got something in his eye and I couldn't get it out, but when we got home I finally got it. It was a gnat! What the nasty. My poor baby.
