February: A Two Year Old and San Francisco

These months are just blurring together and going so quickly! This month I hit my twenty week mark in my pregnancy, so I am halfway there! We also found out that it is a little girl that we will be welcoming to the family, and we could not be more thrilled. We are so blessed and cannot wait to meet her and kiss her cheeks!

Baby Girl is doing great! We had the big ultrasound to see how she was doing and everything was just perfect. I am a worrier, so that was a huge relief to me! I'm definitely getting bigger and I can feel her moving!

Foot!!

Ok, she's my baby and I think this is beyond creepy. But if you get past that, it's kind of cute, right?

Cute little profile!

The beginning of the month was met with lots of snow! This year we have gotten so much snow here, it's been fun! Henry really enjoys playing in it and so does Bailey haha.

We also had a little mischievousness from H Man. I was looking up some stuff on the computer for a trip and Henry was in the office behind me. I turned around and this is what I found. Also, no remorse haha. He was so pleased with himself!

One of the highlights for this month was that Henry turned two! We didn't do a big party or anything crazy, but we had some friends over and ate pizza and had cake. Lately, his favorite thing has been Lightning McQueen and Cars, so we got some napkins and a Lightning McQueen balloon and I made a special cake. He got the balloon on Friday and seriously would not let go of it for anything. It went on bike rides, on walks, into his room for bedtime, and even to someone's house for a meeting I had. A few weeks ago he had jello for the first time and absolutely loved it, so I made some car shaped jello jigglers for the kids too.

It was my year to plan Valentine's Day, but seriously with Henry's birthday it just gets put on the back burner. We have got to come up with a better plan. But the week before I got a sitter and Rusty and I went out to lunch and a movie. I got Rusty some tickets for the Supercross in Seattle and he got me some beautiful tulips and some candies from him and a special Valentine gift that he helped Henry pick out. He also got me some shirts and a little wooden figurine holding another little baby with a toddler.

On Valentine's Day we caught a flight to San Francisco. Rusty attended our first ever Real Estate Conference with Kyle, while Bryndee, Brayden, Henry and I just tagged along. :) It was a lot of fun! Rusty and I went a couple of days early to play and then the girls played during the conference. The first day was supposed to be sunny and beautiful so we drove down Highway 1 along the gorgeous coastline to head to Monterey. The drive was just beautiful! Our first stop was to walk along Cannery Row, and then a little path along the beach and the bay to Lover's Point Park, where we got to play at the beach. Henry got completely soaked by a wave, so on the way back he had to be pantless while they dried haha. We saw a TON of sea lions and even a sea otter! I had never seen one in the wild before, so I was pretty excited.

They have sharks on their street signs. Can I live here forever!?

Our next stop was the Monterey Bay Aquarium, which has been a bucket list item for me for a very long time! It is supposed to be amazing, which it was! We loved it there and had a blast. Henry's favorite was the turtle in the huge deep sea tank, and Rusty really loved all of the cool things they did with the sardines. I loved the kelp forest tank and the deep tank where you got to see a hammerhead shark!

Mater and Lightning McQueen go everywhere

After the Aquarium we got some delicious Chinese food and then headed back home for the night! The next day we met the Bartons downtown (we actually found them driving around trying to look for a parking spot like us haha) and did a really great day downtown! We started by doing an Alcatraz tour. I loved being able to see the city from the water, and being able to get out to such a historic place was pretty cool! It felt kind of creepy the whole time, but it was interesting to see it. I had no idea it was so close to San Francisco; I thought it would be further out but it's actually really close. The prisoners said that they could hear music coming from the city on big nights like New Years Eve.

These are the cells from the guys that escaped!

                                                     Henry went crazy from Alcatraz!

This guy was actually one of the prisoners here!

After Alcatraz, we walked around Fisherman's Wharf and then took a trolley down to Chinatown! The boys really loved riding the trolley, and I did too! I love doing those cliche things that are specific to a city.

The boys' favorite part of the Wharf was chasing the pigeons.

We saw a cool show!

I love all of the sea lions!

Trolley!

Chinatown!

While in Chinatown we had dinner at a pretty famous place. President Obama used to come here! It turned out to be way fancier than we had anticipated, with our waiter being in a full tuxedo. Of course the boys were out of control but cute Rusty was banished to the kids' side of the table to watch them. :)

To finish off the day, we went to Ghiradelli's and got some yummy ice cream and drove down Lombard Street!

Then we went and checked into the house we were renting in Oakland. The decor was... questionable (hahaha).

The next day Rusty and Kyle had to go to meetings, so Bryndee and I took the boys to a Children's Museum and to get some ice cream after eating at a delicious Italian place. The big boys had a late dinner with everyone at the conference so we ordered some yummy food and stayed in!

Saturday was sunny and beautiful so Bryndee and I went on a bike ride across the Golden Gate Bridge! This was what I was most excited about doing while we were here, and although it was hard I'm so glad we did it! What I didn't know is that if you ride a bike you go on the far side of the bridge, so you can't really see the views of San Francisco. Also, you are not allowed to stop or all of the other bikers will scream at you. It was pretty stressful on the bridge haha.

It's safe to say that we wiped the boys out. It's hard work sitting in the trailer!!

We met the guys for dinner at a delicious Mexican place! So, so yummy! Then we drove up around the Oakland Temple and it is beautiful!

Sunday Bryn and I tried to take the boys to church, but we were too late. So we decided to go get lunch at Panera and then take the little boys to a fun indoor playplace (it was raining again). This was by far Henry's favorite part of the trip!

Then we picked the big boys up and Rusty and I went straight to the airport! San Fran was good to us for sure :)

We also went to Chuck E Cheese for the first time! When we were in California, Henry loved that ball pit place so much I thought I would try to find something here for him. There's nothing, but we thought that he might like trying Chuck E Cheese out! And he really did!

Henry's Highlights:
  • He has started to do the cheesiest smiles for the camera!! It started in San Francisco (check the picture in Monterrey on the walk to Lover's Point) and then ever since then it has stuck around! It cracks me up!
  • Obviously, him turning two is a big deal! He is getting so grown up. He talks ALL THE TIME and he knows so many words.
  • His favorite foods are cereal, toast, strawberries, broccoli (weird right?) and noodles. Also any candy or sweets that he can get his hands on.
  • Bailey is still his best friend/worst enemy.
  • Outside, and his bike especially, are his favorite ways to spend his time. Or watching Cars or the Netflix show about Mater. Dancing and making music with his instruments from Grandma and Papa are also favorites!
  • His favorite toys are probably his cars (especially Lightning McQueen and Mater that he got on his cake), his toy dirt bikes, and his kitchen.
