October: Cabin, Corbellys, and Haunted Houses

For some unknown reason, all of the pictures for the month uploaded in a backwards order. And while I know that I could erase it and do it again I am so behind with the blog that that particular thought makes me want to throw up. SO. Enjoy this month, backwards.

Halloween! This year we went to the retirement home to visit all of the kid little old people who don't get visitors. We took the Carlson kids with us and then we went over to Dutch Fields with the Cowleys. Sadly I ended up with no pictures from Dutch Fields- I guess we were just having too much fun! But these are my beautiful kiddos before we went out!

For Halloween the kids did another writing project where they made a haunted house and then had to become realtors and sell it. I was so impressed- they absolutely rocked it! They are so creative.

We had a fun time carving pumpkins this year! By the time we finished it was too dark to take any pictures, so we took them the next morning with the kids in their jammies!

My kiddos are still progressing and getting stripes in jiu jitsu! They are strong and dedicated. I know that they don't love going; they always complain when we go. But when we are finished they always love it and are proud of themselves!

I did something new this year and printed off some Halloween pictures to put in all of the frames in the parlor! It took a lot of time figuring out the sizes and everything, but I am so happy with how it turned out!

For October's Book Club, we read a Halloween book called The Halloween Tree. I've never heard of this book before which was really surprising to me because it is written by Ray Bradbury who also wrote Fahrenheit 451 (a wonderful book that I love). We went to Carissa's house and she had the cutest activities and treats for us! And Sara brought candied apples, which I have never had before- only caramel apples!

Another year visiting Cornbellys! I was wanting to help my kiddos feel more connection to other kids so I volunteered to take each of them and some friends with them to Cornbelly's all by myself. I was a little nervous about it but we did it and it worked out pretty well! I brought Amelia and Ayla and Everett and Caleb.

Della has been doing horseback riding lessons and she is killing it and loving it.

Della is having a great time at activity days! She went and played at the Heber Creamery. Sadly, she was wearing her favorite baptism ring when she went in the corn pit and lost it. She was so upset and I tried looking for it everywhere. I couldn't find it and go so desperate that I ended up calling the primary president and she said that those rings only come from the primary presidencies. She was so nice and brought another one right over for her!

The kids stayed at my parents' house for a night while we had a night to ourselves at the cabin. We had a lot to do to get the cabin ready for Thanksgiving when the Pollards are all coming. We got a new couch, hung up pictures, got new washer and dryer, and new beds. It was a lot! But it was easier without the kids there for sure. They sewed these pillow pet things and had a great time!

Della wrote this sweet note to my parents that she hoped that Uncle Ed felt better.

Ok. This pontoon. Our neighbor put it for sale and Rusty saw it when we were at the cabin. He came into the room and said that he thought we should buy it and I said I really didn't think so. We won't use it and we don't have anywhere to store it. Rusty walked back out into the family room and then immediately called Tom and said that he wanted to buy it. I was like, "Wait what?! What happened?" And then Rusty came in and apologized profusely and said that he didn't know what happened and he just was overcome hahahaha.

Rusty and I did lots of work at the cabin, and we also saw a whole bunch of moose! So cool!

For Beckie's birthday, Rusty and I went to do sealings at the temple and then went to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch! We remembered Beckie and talked about her and memories with her.

For Christmas I asked Sara to teach me some cooking lessons! She taught me how to make these patties and they are delicious! It's always fun to hang out with Sara and the kids have a great time too.

Rusty and I got to go to a Mothers Without Borders event at Top Golf. I got to meet some new people and chat and discuss the progress of the programs. These people are doing absolutely amazing work!

Henry and Rusty went fishing with the Pattersons and had a blast! Henry caught some great fish and it was a wonderful day on the water.

We made a great trip out to Colorado for Levi and Shy's wedding! There was a lot of good partying and time spent with the family. The kids had the best time with their cousins and we all loved catching up. We took the kids up Skyline Drive to see the dinosaur tracks.

The wedding was amazing! We are so happy to be welcoming Shy into our family. She is a beautiful and charming and we love her so much!

The wedding!

We went to a duck pond with the Pollard kids

I don't remember why Rusty is holding out this flower haha

My perfect husband!

I sat by a stranger on the plane and we were BFFs

Amelia and I have been having so much fun doing school! We read about the monkeys stealing the caps from Caps For Sale and then made monkey toast.

After reading about apple blossoms Amelia made an apple wreath out of egg cartons!

Some Halloween activities

We had a lovely trip to the cabin! We explored a different area than we have before with the side by side and that was so fun. I love the forest over there. It's so beautiful! And a trip to the cabin is always relaxing and recharging. It is my favorite place.

Cornbellys again! This time it was just us. We buried each other in the corn pit and did the maze and played at Kidopolis!

Bryndee did a really fun Taylor Swift party for the release of her new album. We all brought something to eat and wore something from a specific era. I was the Fearless Era. Honestly, the party was really fun but it was also not something that I am generally comfortable with. ESPECIALLY when they decided that we needed to take a bunch of pictures for Instagram and also do a video where we each walk into the house and do a pose. A POSE. I'm sorry I don't know how to pose. What the heck. But we listened to her new songs and we painted and it was fun!

Della is doing horseback riding lessons and absolutely loving it! And she is killing it and doing so well. She is so brave!

Henry and Rusty went on another dirt bike ride and had a great time! Such a beautiful place we live!

The Lutes invited us to go do a hike at Blood Lake. I've only done that hike one other time in the summer and doing it during October with all of the colors was magical!
