July: Cabins, Birthdays, and One Year Olds!

Wow, was July a crazy, hectic, busy month or what!?!? I'm not even going to write about Peru on this one because that deserves its own post, but July was pretty busy even without that! But I guess that is just how summer is.

We went out to Morgan to have a little get-together for my grandpa's birthday. Sadly, he was hurt and so we didn't get to see him, but we saw Grandma for a little bit and then had a BBQ at my parents' house and went swimming at Uncle John's pool. It was a lot of fun, and both of my babies LOVE the water. They could not get enough of swimming in the pool. Henry even got brave enough to start jumping off of the diving board by himself! He surprises me sometimes with what he is brave enough to try.

Having some delicious birthday cake!

Henry got his bike! Rusty hasn't had time to put the training wheels on yet, so he has to ride with one of us but he is so beyond stoked about it. He is so proud of it and loves to ride it with us! I think his daddy is equally proud and excited. You know who else likes this thing? Della. She FLIPS when she sees it, and just screams until she gets her turn. When she rides it she has the biggest smile on her face.

We started the month out by heading to Colorado to spend the Fourth of July at the cabin! I love the cabin, and it's Rusty's favorite place in the whole world. It is getting so fun to be able to show our kids now that they are getting older. We got up there really late and then had part of the next day to ourselves to enjoy the cabin. This time we did all kinds of fun, new things! We took some family pictures with everyone, and with Mt. Shavano in the background they look pretty good, even though we are gross haha.

Della sure loves her Grandpa!

We blew up our air mattress and floated around on the pond with it! Henry thought this was a blast, and I did too! It had a leak in it so it was about to be retired anyway, and this was a great option. Rusty used to do this in high school.

On the Fourth we went down to Salida. I had never been there before, and it is adorable! They had a little parade, some music playing, and some food vendors. Henry even got to jump in a jump castle! After we hung out there we went down to the river and put our feet in and then went and got some ice cream. It was a great Fourth, even though we couldn't have any fireworks from the fire ban.

Look at these two patriotic cuties!!

Of course we also took the canoe out a bunch! And we went fishing. I even caught my second fish at the cabin (and second fish ever haha).

Something else that we did that was new was riding the four wheelers up to the reservoir. It was a ton of fun, and Henry couldn't wipe the grin off of his face the entire time. Della liked it when she wasn't asleep haha! We even saw a mountain goat on the way down.

Our little family went for a little hike through the wilderness over toward the campground. We went the back way where you just follow game trails, and Henry was having a blast being out in the wilderness.

Granddad and Grandma Joan got to come up to visit for the day! It is always wonderful to see them, and this was no exception. They are the sweetest people, and our kids love them!

Adeline loved the canoe so much, we couldn't really keep her out of it haha.

Henry had a special place he would go pee, it was called his Pee Rock haha.

We also tried the Fish Hatchery for the first time! Rusty used to go here when he was little, and Henry sure loved it. They give you a big coffee can full of fish food and the fish just go nuts! henry loved seeing them and feeding them.

After the hatchery we went over to a lake that is supposed to be really good for fishing. Henry wanted so badly to catch a fish, and it just wasn't working out. We didn't catch anything at the lake either, but Levi did and he let Henry reel it in! He was so excited about it!

I also tried the hummingbird cabin test! If you hold still long enough, they land on your fingers. It is so magical!

After we got back from Colorado we celebrated Adeline's birthday! We did a fun cake smash and little party with Jessica and Aaron and my parents. I can't believe that she is one year old already. She has been an absolute joy in our home and I cannot imagine what we ever did without her. Adeline is sweet, sassy, funny, and beautiful. We love this girl!

Then it was time for the cake smash! She was a little confused at first, but once she tasted it she was all in! This girl doesn't mind to get messy!

Then we went back to the house for some cake and ice cream, and presents!

Henry was the best helper!

She loved shoes from an early age haha

Rusty and I had a very special opportunity this month to go to the temple with family. We had a babysitter set up in Morgan but she fell through, so Dad ended up staying home with the kids so that we could go. Mom, Rusty and I went and met up with my aunts and uncles and some cousins. Grandpa did the sealings which was very special.

Our friend Mike got married! He and Rusty were roommates at BYU, and he is such a great guy. He was also so kind to everyone and so funny. We haven't seen him in a while but he moved back to Salt Lake and invited us to his wedding! We were excited to go and support him. He was married in the Utah State Capitol building and it was beautiful!

Another blast from the bast was my college roommate coming to visit! Chelsea was out here visiting with family and I got to see her for a little! She and her three kids came over to play at our house and then that night we went up the canyon to make s'mores and roast hot dogs. It was great to see her and Henry sure loved playing with Bruce and Joe!

I was tearing up this rotisserie chicken from Costco and Adeline kept snatching pieces! haha. It ended with both kiddos on the counter eating the chicken.
