June: Ending School; Beginning Summer!

YAY SUMMER! We made a quick trip out to my parents' house to grab the boat and then went to cabin to get it out on the water and spend a night there! It was so cold, and we knew nobody would be getting in, but it was still a blast to be out on the water! I absolutely love the boat, and the cabin. Bear Lake is a very special place for me.

Everyone is riding something now! So grown up!

It's been a while since we went to Summerfest (since we lived in Orem) but Rev Road was involved in the car show so it was a great excuse to get down there and see it! The kids all LOVED the car show so much and had the best time.

Amazing chalk art

THE SIERRA CAR! Rusty's Sierra Car actually haha

It was time for us to wrap up school! It was summer break and also our trip to Iceland was coming up and that was pretty much why we were studying volcanos. We ended by writing a story about what it would have been like if you were there when Pompeii erupted, and also conducting some science experiments.

Our neighbor Kenny stopped by and we invited him to come in for the experiments!

YAY summer! Have I said that enough? We celebrated another way by making fresh rhubarb strawberry cobbler and eating it out by the fire pit and then getting in the hot tub.

It was time for Olivia to go to the MTC for her mission! We were lucky to be able see Olivia before hand, so I went to the temple in Draper and then met them for breakfast. Normally I would have just reschedule the temple but I was really having a hard time with my panic attacks again and I needed the peace and extra power that I get from going to the temple. And it was the only time that I could go before Iceland. So, I didn't make it in time for breakfast but I saw with them while they were finishing up and they had ordered me a little something to eat when I got there. Then Emilie and Jess had to leave but Mom, Dad, Olivia and I went to Provo Canyon and walked along Bridal Veil Falls. Rusty and the kids met up with me there (he had taken them to swimming lessons). I got some good time to talk to her on the car drive, and we all loved spending time with her on the walk!

We got to go boating for the first real time of the season! We went to Deer Creek, and even though it was still chilly we all hopped in (to varying degrees haha)! Surfing came back slowly at first, but then I felt like I got the hang of it. It came back immediately for Rusty because he's annoying. Henry and Della both tried knee boarding and killed it!

Our backyard is so fun now! After Iceland we could walk on it and run and play and we have had the best time! Here are some of our adventures in our new backyard:

Me mowing the lawn

Playing with the sprinkler on the trampoline

Making s'mores with Grandma and Papa!

We went to Iceland! It was crazy and chaotic and beautiful and exciting... and there's a whole different post for it! But the day we got back from Iceland we were finally able to walk on the grass AND the new play set was there as a surprise for the kids!

Amelia's tub after our crazy Iceland trip

A couple of days after we got back we wanted to go to a splash pad! So we invited the Cowleys to go with us and we went to the one right across the street from Henry's wart doctor. Sadly, we had to get his wart cut out because it wouldn't go away and then afterward we went to Smith's and got some yummy picnic food and went and hung out at the splash pad!

Henry being brave!

My poor Henry

Last minute Rusty and I decided it would be really fun to have a "water party" where we set up the slip n slide, the water bouncy slide, and got some water balloons ready. We invited the Bartons and the Cowleys over and had a great time! It was their first time meeting and they hit it off right away. It was just such a fun time and surreal because this is what we had been dreaming of for our backyard!

Watching the stupid debate.

We are definitely excited and ready for summer! We went on a hike up Sid's canyon and it was a blast! Other than getting eaten alive by bugs. SO MANY BUNGS. After our hike we came back home and roasted hot dogs for the first time on our outdoor fire pit!

Henry's Highlights:

  • "Can we resume driving now?
  • Got hooked on the Hardy Boys books and reads them like they're going to disappear. He absolutely loves them!
  • Got his big wart cut out because it wouldn't go away any other way. Bless his heart it hurt him so badly. But he was a trooper! Hopefully we don't have to do that with any other warts

Adeline's Adventures:

    • She got scared when we took the boat out for the first time. Then all of a sudden she was totally fine. She told me, "I was scared and then I just said to myself, 'Who can I help?' And then I'm not scared."
    • "This is the life. This is like, so fancy." @ Blue Lagoon
    • She was trying to think of the name of the movie "Space Jam" and said "Score Bunny"

    Amelia's Updates:

    • Dad (Papa) was telling her about his new calling and she said, "Oh. How would you feel to be eaten by a bear?"
    • Always says, "pinky promise- I can't break that promise!"
    • Calls all butterflies mariposas instead of butterflies
    • "See ya later chicken dinner" - mixed see ya later alligator and winner winner chicken dinner
    • Me: "Can I bite your cheek?" Her: "No! Then I'd be a skeleton!"
    • "That red blood that comes out of your nose? It's actually a little bit lava."
    • I was holding her in the Blue Lagoon and she touches my boobs and says, "I can see you have your boo boos... but we don't talk about that." I laughed so hard Rusty came over and said, "What's up?" And Amelia said, "There's no boo boos here!"
