I'm still attempting to do little Nature Schools weekly, but usually just one or two people show up. But this month we went to try a new place up AF canyon. I love that canyon and we really don't spend a ton of time up there, partly because it costs money. But I just found out that with my National Parks Pass I don't have to pay there! Hooray! One week we went up to Mile Rock Picnic Area. Aubrey came with her kiddos and the kids climbed some big rocks, we went on some little wanders, and skipped rocks in the river.
Another week we went to Lions Park in Provo and built a teepee out of sticks and vines. Rusty went early with me and helped me cut down big limbs to use as the base of the teepee, and I thought we might go to jail for that haha. Then we played in the river a little bit and a group was doing a big art festival there so the kids got to do the activities there too.
Sister Kresge had rented a big slide for her great-grandkids to play on while they were visiting, and the company came and set it up a day early at no extra charge. She invited us over to play on it, and later we invited the Wildes to come too. It was really fun! The Wildes brought pizza and cookies and we had a little picnic while we played on the slide. It was a big one and took Della a while to get brave enough to go down it, but Henry went with her a few times and made her feel better.
Rusty is amazing and I am so proud of him. He has been on quite a few podcasts and is just killing it! People really love him and can relate to him because even though he has a ton of knowledge he speaks plainly.
4th of July was spent in Morgan! We got there in time for the parade and it was so stinking fun! Then we went over to a little fair they were having and the kids got to play in bounce houses, make giant bubbles and walk around. We saw these crazy cardboard boats and found out that they do a cardboard boat regatta every 4th of July! We went back later to watch it and I am so intrigued by this that I want to do it one year haha.
Then we went over to the Bartons' house the night of the 4th for real and had a little party with them and did fireworks! It was a lot of fun. Then we walked on the trail behind their house and saw the largest American Flag in the world flying in the canyon! It was so cool!
One day we met Jess and Aaron and went on some adventures! While Rusty was at work we all went and hiked to Lake Mary. It was so beautiful! The kids had a bit of a hard time and didn't want to walk that far, but we squeezed it out haha.
My baby girl Della's birthday was this month! She turned 4; I can't believe it. She is getting so big and her personality is really shining through. Rusty was going to be gone really early on her birthday so he could go mountain biking with some friends, but she had requested that he make her pink crepes for breakfast. Well, my husband is so sweet that he stayed up late making them for her and had them all ready for her in the morning.
As I already said, Rusty got to go riding with friends! They went to a really beautiful place and he had a great time!
Another day the kids and I went up to Tibble Fork Reservoir. I feel like I bit of more than I could chew here because the kids were crazy and I was all alone haha. But I'm adjusting to having three kids alone and adventuring outside haha. All three kids had a great time and that makes it worth it!
Henry overheard me and Rusty talking about investors and some new properties that he is buying right now. He brought some money and said that we wanted to invest in Rusty's business. It was so cute! It gave Rusty a great opportunity to talk to him about how businesses work. Henry invested, and Rusty told him some information about the business and how much money he is earning.
We painted Lia's toes for the first time! She was not super into it, but she held still long enough for me to hurry and get it done. She just stared at them for a long time after that haha.
Rusty and I went on a fun date! We went out for sushi at our favorite place and then went to see Matilda at the Scera Outdoor Theater. We even stopped at The Chocolate and got some of Bruce Bogtrotter's chocolate cake haha. I tried parting my hair down the middle for the first half of our date, and then I changed it because I felt like I looked like I was from the 70's haha.
I really wanted to show Rusty Mile Creek after we had gone there for Nature School so one afternoon we up and had a picnic and fire there and then went fishing up past Tibble Fork at Silver Lake. Our picnic was great and we had so much fun! When we went fishing, Henry actually caught one! I was so surprised, but he did it! When Rusty tried to get it off the hook and set it free it didn't make it, so we ended up taking it home and the kids ate it. Turns out, you shouldn't eat fish from up there because of the mining stuff. Oops.
We went to the Zoo with my parents and got a pass again! We had so much fun with Grandma and Papa and they absolutely loved riding the carousel. I think we did it three times. We also spent an unusually long time watching the sea lions swimming.
We went to the Provo Rec Outdoor pool! It is something that I feel guilty not doing because we get in for free because we already pay for our memberships, and the kids are so cheap. But man it’s hard to fit things in. We made it there this month and we all had a blast! Lia loved splashing, Henry loved the water slides, and Della loved playing in the water. We also spent some time in the wave pool for the first time and it was really fun!
Della started riding a bike! She has done really well, and the sad thing is I think she could have done it earlier if she had more practice. But I can’t practice with her when I have Lia and when Rusty’s home we’re usually busy. Problems of being the middle child I guess haha. But she will continue to get better throughout the summer!
Henry's Highlights
- I got after Henry and Della for something after we were swimming outside and had come back inside, I can't remember what, but they were just staring at me after so I said, "Was that scary?" and Henry said, "Yes, my bum is clutched" haha and Della said, "My bum is cold"
- Gave his first talk in primary that he wrote!
- Drew ducks in singing time in primary and turns to his teacher and says, "That is the best duck mouth I have ever done." haha
- Della was sad I wouldn't put make-up on her, and he said "You don't need anything- you are my beautiful sister Della!" He is the sweetest
- She was teaching Tyler how to jump in the pool and she said "You keep your eyes open and close your mouth" and then had her eyes SO wide open haha. Also when she was "diving" she would just put her hands together like she was praying or doing yoga and then jump in haha.
- When she is done eating something she will say her tummy is full, but then she will ask for fruit or a snack or a treat and when I remind her that she said she's full she says, "My tummy says it's not full of that, only this."
- Loves to dress up, changes clothes multiple times a day
- She loves to chew on hair. It's gross
- She's super made about me weaning her, and she will head butt my chest and motorboat me haha. I feel so guilty about it
- Amelia shakes her head "no" really fast all the time, when she's dancing or playing
- She has six teeth!
- She flaps her arms like a bird when she wants something or is mad or really happy haha. There's a lot of flapping
- Shakes her head "no" like a crazy person
- Hisses like a snake all the time
