I am the luckiest mom ever! I have my sweet Henry and Della, and then I was blessed with a third sweet baby on September 11. It was the one day in September that I hoped she wouldn't be born, just like Henry and Valentine's Day. Apparently I have bad luck with choosing birth dates haha. But as I'm writing this two months after Amelia was born, I can honestly say that it doesn't bother me anymore. She makes a sad and difficult day better and brighter. She has been a ray of sunshine in our lives and she does the same thing for that day.
The last few weeks of the pregnancy were really hard. I was sooo uncomfortable and ready to be done that I fear I didn't handle it with too much grace haha. There was a lot of complaining and whining, which I'm sure Rusty hated but he was kind about it. The doctor told me I could be induced but I really wanted baby girl to have the time she needed to get ready to come out into the world. On September 11 I went in for my 40 week check up and had protein in my urine and high blood pressure. The doctor said that I had preeclampsia and needed to go home and get my things and find someone to watch the kids and go back to the hospital within the hour. I cried and was nervous about the baby girl's health and called Mom and Dad and Jessica to come and watch the kids. Jessica came right away and waited until Mom and Dad got there. Rusty and I went to the hospital, but first Rusty made us go through the Taco Bell drive through haha. I was soo angry at him because it ended up taking a long time haha, but he told me I should eat something. I was too nervous to eat but I did start having natural contractions so I was happy about that.
We got checked into the hospital and tried to settle in. We were closing on a duplex that day and it had to be signed, so the bank let me and rusty do it on video from the hospital room haha. That was a first for me! Because of Covid-19 I was so nervous that they wouldn't let Rusty stay in the room with me. The doctor told me that they would test me for Covid and if I was positive Rusty wouldn't be allowed in. I was so anxious about this my whole pregnancy, and when it came down to it they did test me but didn't get the results back until 3 days later- when I was already home haha. We did have the nurses wearing masks and we were supposed to wear masks during our stay which was definitely weird.
This labor was fast. I was at the hospital around 11 and being induced around noon. Lia was born at 4:57 pm weighing 8 pounds 5 ounces and at 20.5 inches long. She had trouble breathing, so they took her right away to help clear her airways out. I got to hold her and was so overjoyed to hold my precious baby! I cannot describe the joy that fills my heart when I see my babies for the first time. It is this unearthly experience and fills my whole body with this pure joy and adoration. When I saw Amelia for the first time it was just like the other two babies: a sudden surge of love that cannot be explained. I will love this girl forever.
They put her on this bed to monitor her breathing before I could hold her and she just spread out like she was sun bathing haha! She wouldn't cry, even when they started slapping her poor foot. She was just happy and chill.
Later that night they had to take her to the NICU to work on her breathing again. She was hooked up to a lot of monitors and I wasn't able to be here. But Rusty sent lots of pictures and kept me up to date. She coughed up some fluid and then everything improved and she was able to come back to me!
Later that night my mom got to be the second visitor and come and meet Amelia! We still hadn't named her yet, so we were trying to figure that out. Rusty had to leave so my mom could come so he went and got some food and brought me Crumble cookies!! SO yum!
