Adeline Faye Pollard

She's here! She's finally here! I felt like this pregnancy lasted FOREVER and I was so excited to meet her. My due date was July 11 but because I was a week early with Henry I had high hopes that she might come early too. At my appointment on July 5 I was still only dilated to 1 cm, and I was so sad about that. Then I was certain that I would go past my due date and have to be induced, and the doctor actually didn't disagree with me. Luckily, Rusty came to that appointment so he took me out for ice cream to try to help cheer me up :)

The next day, July 6, I took Henry to the library to get his free book for doing his summer reading challenge. Then I found out that it was the same time as a little entertainment show for kids and decided to take him to that. It was a cute little show and then we went back home to hang out until Rusty got home. It was a really sunny day so we decided to go to the lake! We stopped by the dollar store to get a sand bucket and Rusty got me a Snickers to share on the way. While the boys were playing in the water I sat in my chair reading my book. I started to feel sick to my stomach, so I told Rusty that I should go home. By the time we got home I was feeling really sick and I laid down on the bed while the boys played out in the little pool. I started feeling contractions and timed them starting at 6:30 and they were two minutes apart! I called my mom to see if I should go in or wait, and she said to head on in! Rusty came in and showered with Henry and then we did our last minute packing up. I started by telling Rusty that I wanted to leave in about thirty minutes, then it became ten, then it became right now! Haha. Those contractions weren't kidding around. Henry was so concerned that I was hurting. He kept checking on me and trying to make me feel better, which was sweet. He is such a sweet little boy.

On the way to hospital I kept telling Henry that it was a fun game and pretty soon he started making the same sounds I was and it was so funny! We met the Hudsons at the hospital to take Henry and I got all checked in. Around 8:00 I got checked again and I was already to a 4! I got taken to my room, got an epidural and then waited until it was time. I started to feel contractions again and then my water broke. Shortly after I told the nurse that I felt like I needed to push and she told me that I couldn't because the doctor was in a C-Section. I told her that it didn't matter, that I was going to push so she called the doctor and it turned out that the surgery hadn't started yet so she was able to come to me first. After everything got all set up, I pushed for four minutes (the most painful four minutes of my life) and then at 11:49 our perfect Adeline Faye was born.

There was meconium in the fluid so the NICU staff was in there. When Adeline was born she didn't cry so I was really worried. I just kept repeating, "Why isn't she crying?" They took her right away and got her to cry and put her on a CPAP for a few minutes. Her breathing wasn't very good, so they worked with her for a while and kept us in the hospital longer so that they could monitor her. They watched her and she did a lot better. I was so happy when I finally got to hold her and couldn't stop smiling and crying. She was just so perfect, and the magic of that moment was every bit as wonderful as it was with Henry. The next day they finally got to weigh and measure her and she was 7 lbs 1 oz and 19 inches long. Every nurse that would come in to check on her would say, "Oh what a pretty baby girl! She really is beautiful and I'm not just saying that. She's gorgeous!" We had a nice time in the hospital just loving on our sweet girl and recovering. She eats all the time and was a great eater from the minute I got to hold her.

On Saturday we were allowed to go home, and Henry got to meet Adeline for the first time. I had been anxiously anticipating this for so long that I was just so excited! Rusty dropped me and Della off and then went to pick Henry up from the Hudson's. When they walked in I was upstairs and started coming down. Henry was running up the stairs with two orange daisies, one for me and one for his baby sister. He didn't even skip a beat and or seem surprised that she was there; he just asked to give her a kiss and to hold her.

I wasn't sure what to expect with her being my second little baby, but I love her so completely. I can look at Henry now and my heart will feel so completely full like it will burst. Then I can look at Adeline and feel the exact same thing. I never knew that your heart could really expand like people say it can, but it is true. There is nothing "second" about her; she is absolutely loved and adored by her family!

We had some newborn pictures taken and they are beautiful! All the heart eyes.
