Well March has come and gone in what seemed like a blur, and April has done the same thing! We started out the month by doing something that I have wanted to do for a very long time: The Tulip Festival! When we were here for Rusty's internship I heard about it and have wanted to go ever since. This year we got to go, and what a perfect way to welcome spring! There are tons and tons of tulips of all different colors that make up huge fields. It's breathtaking! There is also a garden that had a bunch of different types of tulips, way more than I even knew existed. There are so many and they all look so different and beautiful! I just love tulips! I got a little carried away with the pictures, but I just couldn't stop.
As a bonus, we got to see some daffodil fields!
Look at those bright colors of tulip fields!
I think these ones were my favorite!
These are so different!
Aaaand, we got our house! It was an incredibly long process that was very frustrating at times, but eventually (a week later than planned) we closed and got the keys. Then after that it was a frenzy trying to get everything rehabed and picking out colors and flooring. We started painting and then had new carpet and paint put in. That made such a huge difference! It has been hard and there have been some surprises like a bird flying around in the laundry room, having absolutely ZERO appliances, and having a huge hole from the kitchen wall to the backyard. But we made it through and got all moved in! There is still a lot to do, but we are here and loving it! This little house is just perfect for us. Before and after pictures will be coming soon :)
Our sweet friends gave us some brownies and sparkling cider as a house warming gift. Rusty and I put Henry to bed and then sat on the floor of our new bedroom and enjoyed our treats. It was a great way to end that hectic day!
And Henry had his first Easter! We weren't as prepared for it as I would have liked but he did have a little basket with some eggs! Hopefully next year we are more put together. We tried putting him in the basket... but he was not having it. At all.
He hated that basket.
Henry is doing just great! It is so fun to watch him grow and learn new things. It's amazing how quickly he learns and changes! Here are some highlights:
- He has started to play with his hands more and loves grabbing mommy's hair
- Henry loves playing peekaboo with Daddy, and loves singing Row Row Row Your Boat with his arms moving with Mommy
- He had his first Sunday at church! We spent most of it outside the chapel but it was a good start.
What a stud.
- He really really loves to look at lights, especially the lamp in our room. It's embarrassing, but I'm jealous of that lamp because it got the best smiles from him!
- Henry still loves his whales but has decided he hates the music that goes with it so I have to spin them myself. High maintenance little guy.
- He has started to frown, and it is both heartbreakingly sad and absolutely hilarious at the same time.
- Went out to dinner for the first time! He slept through it and handled it like a champ.
- Sleeps with fingers in a first or completely spread out
- Likes to have his whale blanket on top of him in his swing, and he gets a huge smile every time he gets it.
- Loves getting his diaper changed
- Loves his mat that our friends gave us. He kicks at the keyboard and it plays music! At first he wasn't sure about it, but now he loves it!
- Henry LOVES to talk, especially to mommy.
- He smiles a lot more often now and it is seriously so fun. He even smiles at us when he sees us for the first time. I would love it if he stayed at this stage forever.
- He got his first cold, and had a hard time breathing with a stuffy nose.
- We went to his two month check up and he weighs ten and a half pounds! I feel like he is getting so big but he is still only in the fifteenth percentile for weight and height. He had to get his shots and this mommy may or may not have cried. Oops.
- This is embarrassing, but I didn't know he would get a fever after his shots and that night he was having a hard time breathing from his cold and had a fever of 100.7. I had heard from the pediatrician that anything over 100.4 is an emergency, but I didn't know that was only for the first month. Needless to say we all had a little trip to the ER at one in the morning. :) Turns out it was good though because with his kidney condition he is prone to getting UTIs, so we're supposed to watch fevers closely. He was totally fine and discharged with no issues. Scared me to death though.
- The results came back from his ultrasound and it is very, very unlikely that he will need surgery! We will do one more ultrasound in September to make sure.
- And just some extra pictures of him, because I cannot help myself.
Early in the morning means tired eyes, which means a little cross eyed action haha
He is the SWEETEST.
These smiles...
He won't smile at the camera
Hahahahahah
