February: I'm a Mom!

Nothing really exciting happened this month... OTHER THAN THE FACT THAT OUR BABY WAS BORN! I'M A MOM! Henry Tyrel Pollard finally came to join our family on Valentine's Day! The time since then has been a whirlwind, because of how surreal it is to finally have him here and the fact that Rusty and I are both in zombie mode. Sometimes I hear him making sounds and get confused about what it is. Once I was in the kitchen and heard him crying in the bedroom and thought to myself, "That sounds like a baby... Oh wait. It is a baby. MY baby!" I don't know when I will finally get used to the idea that now I have a baby and am a mom, but I'm loving it so far. It has been a miracle to welcome him into our home and family. We love how he coos after he sneezes, how he wrinkles his little forehead, and peeks out at us with just one eye. It's amazing how one tiny thing can completely steal your heart. It's also amazing how much work that tiny thing is.

My parents came out the day Henry was born and my mom stayed for a week to help out, which was so nice. Then my dad came back to pick her up and stayed for the weekend. It's fun to see them interact with Henry and how much they love him already too. One of my favorite things is watching Rusty with Henry. My heart almost bursts out of my chest when I see him talking to him, singing to him, and playing with him. And when he whispers, "I love you Henry" I'm a mess. He gets so excited about being a dad that he loves to tell people- anyone that will listen. Someone from work called him just as we were getting ready to leave to take pictures and he said, "I'll have to call you back, I'm going to take pictures with my son." And when he was talking on the phone to the bank about the house Henry started crying and Rusty said, "Oh sorry, I'll have to go in another room. My new son is crying." He is one proud daddy. And I am a proud mommy! I love holding Henry and think every little thing he does is worthy of an award. I take about ten pictures a day, and let's face it. He's a newborn so they pretty much all look the same because he only does so much. But I cannot get enough of him. I know I'm new at being a mom, but it's pretty great.

These are some pictures I took. I'm not very good, but it was fun to try it out!

And here are some pictures that a friend took for us! She did a great job!

In other news, we got the house! They accepted the lower offer and we are good to go! We pushed the closing date back until April 3 so that we could have some time to adjust with Henry before taking on moving as well. I am so excited! We talked to our neighbors and they all seem really nice, and I love the area. It's right by a lake and has a church across the street with a huge field that will be so fun to play with Henry in! Looks like our prayers did lead us in the right direction, and we are so grateful. We have some work to do and get to pick new paint colors and flooring which is exciting! We also closed on a duplex this month, which is our first property that is purely an investment. That is exciting as well! Things are going in the right direction and we are very blessed!
